“BEING SEEN”: inner spaces one year anniversary painting by Karina Ospina
Being Seen is a declaration. A vibrant, imperfect, unapologetic act of presence. Born from the words of emerging poets, this piece transforms collective emotion into color, gesture, and meaning. It does not seek polish — it chooses truth.
Rooted in my Indigenous heritage, the work embodies the precepts of oneness, reciprocity, and ancestral memory. It speaks through dripping pigments, layered textures, and hidden words — some of which can only be read with the soul.
This painting is not just about visibility — it is about being seen as Indigenous, as part of a living and resisting cosmovision. It dreams of an ancestral future, where the flower opens with the dawn’s dew in the dense jungle of our shared existence.
Medium: Acrylic, spray paint, and impasto on canvas
Dimensions: 120 x 100 cm
Year: 2025
Artist: KaoS
In a mesmerising display of artistic synchronicity, visual artist Karina Ospina (@artby.kaos) brought her canvas to life during Inner Spaces' one-year anniversary celebration. As poets recited and musicians played, her brushstrokes danced across the canvas, transforming neutral greys into an explosion of vibrant pink hues. The resulting piece captures the electric energy of live performance, where every splash of colour resonates with the rhythm of spoken word and melody. Ospina's signature style of revitalising spaces through colour finds perfect expression in this work, where contemplative moments blend seamlessly with bursts of creative energy, creating a visual symphony that mirrors the collaborative spirit of the evening.
